We've been on a pop-up kick lately: reading pop-up books， attempting to make pop-ups， reading about how to make better pop-ups。 I haven't taken the time to review any， but this one deserves kudos for: 1。 Its message， which is great， and uplifted even my cynical， pandemic-weary， oh-god-I-just-turned-40 self。 It's not easy to achieve that at this reading level without coming across as really cheesy， but this book made it look easy。 2。 The quality of pop-ups is really impressive。 I wanted to copy t We've been on a pop-up kick lately: reading pop-up books， attempting to make pop-ups， reading about how to make better pop-ups。 I haven't taken the time to review any， but this one deserves kudos for: 1。 Its message， which is great， and uplifted even my cynical， pandemic-weary， oh-god-I-just-turned-40 self。 It's not easy to achieve that at this reading level without coming across as really cheesy， but this book made it look easy。 2。 The quality of pop-ups is really impressive。 I wanted to copy the bird-themed page， as the base construction is simple， but the way it fit together and opened up in a spiraling motion was too complex for me to grok deeply。 And it just made me all the more impressed。 There was also relatively little that was damaged or didn't work， which is RARE for library pop-up books， so it seems more durable than average as well。 If you're in the market for a simple， positive， encouraging book with basic （they're all white） but technically impressive pop-ups， this is the one。 If that doesn't sound appealing， there are lots of flashier books out there that might be more appealing to kids。 Off the top of my head， I'd check out Zoom: Space Adventure。 。。。more
